Srinagar, Sep 29 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday took a dig at the BJP over its repeated assertion that Statehood would be restored at an “appropriate time”, saying the government would use the same response when asked about holding Panchayat elections.
Responding to questions over the timeline for Panchayat polls in the Legislative Assembly, Omar, per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said “You say appropriate time for Statehood, we’ll say same for Panchayat polls.”
He said if the BJP continued to ask when Panchayat elections would be held, the government could similarly respond that they would be conducted at an appropriate time.
Omar also questioned the meaning of “appropriate time”, saying the BJP itself had not clarified when that time would come or how it would be determined—(KNO)
